Calcium 
1)Calcium Phosphate powder cleans, helps re-mineralize teeth and polishes, being coarse enough to clean but not too hard that it leaves scratches on the enamel.  Calcium phosphate is preferred over Calcium carbonate in toothpaste since 96% of tooth enamel is calcium and phosphate.  Most store-bought toothpaste contain Calcium carbonate powder from limestone as it costs less; but it is not the best calcium form to choose.  

2)  Calcium Carbonate powder cleans and helps re-mineralize teeth by using phosphate from the saliva.  It also polishes, being coarse enough to clean but not too hard that it leaves scratches on the enamel.   Common store-bought toothpaste use the less expensive calcium carbonate sourced from limestone.  I include Egg shell powder as it is also made of calcium carbonate but from the work of a chicken not a stone.   The cost may be more but it alchemically provides calcium made by a living being, the chicken, having its specific energy, ability and the God-given trait of making calcium carbonate egg shells.  In addition, a long-held metaphysical belief of West Africans includes the ability of egg shells to repel negative energy and provide a protective shield. 
   
Zinc Citrate powder can help with bleeding gums, and has been shown to reduce demineralization of teeth by 49% and decrease the formation of plaque, a sticky film that covers teeth which contains bacteria by 30%. This action can help freshen breath since reduced bacteria levels result in less odor caused by their activity.  

Hydrated Silicates remove surface stains without bleaching chemicals -each chosen for its own unique properties 
1)Kaolin Clay powder, contains silica, cleans and polishes teeth while being gentle on tooth enamel because its silicates and traces of crystalline silica (quartz) are in a special flat shape that enhance the ability to glide across teeth. 

2)Bentonite clay powder, contains silica, a fine-grained clay, smaller than the Kaolin particle, is a polishing cleanser with antibacterial properties that can also help re-mineralize teeth from its trace mineral content. Formed naturally over millions of years from volcanic ash, its superfine   
particles of silica effectively polish teeth but are not abrasive to the enamel leaving teeth feeling smooth and shiny.  

3)Diatomaceous Earth powder contains silicates, cleans and help whiten teeth from its silica content scraping off built up discolored plaque and polishing the enamel.  Not a clay, consisting of fossilized microalgae, it is a slightly larger particle than Kaolin and contains a small amount of other minerals. Included for its ability to grip plaque, it is added but in a lower amount than the gentler Kaolin clay powder and Bentonite clay powder. 

Sodium Bicarbonate [aluminum-free] 
As a chelating agent, helps remove stains, polishes teeth, and as an antibacterial combats plaque buildup on teeth which then offer the benefit of fresher breath. 

MISCELLANEOUS  
Hydrogen Peroxide, added in low amount, helps treat breath by decreasing bacteria to give good clean breath. The low amount may or may not help with teeth whitening. 

Castile Vegetable-Based Soap safely adds a little bubbly to toothpaste as it helps against bacteria on teeth.  Free of synthetic ingredients or animal fat, mild, gentle, not a detergent or surfactant, Castile Soap does not harm teeth and gums.  Its bubbly is not like the synthetic chemical Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) found in most store-bought toothpaste; a foaming, bubbly-producing detergent, surfactant and thickening agent which can slowly break down enamel on teeth, damage cells in the mouth, and place strain on the body to repair itself.  SLS is listed among the worst toothpaste ingredients, a chemical detergent highly effective as a degreaser used in laundry, household and products to clean cars. 

Natural Flavor: Essential Oils 
Adding a bouquet of flavor and used to kill bad bacteria leading to fresh breath and healthier gums are Essential Oils from Clove, Lemon, Rosemary, Cinnamon Bark, and Eucalyptus; all part of the popular “Thieves” brand made by Young Living.  I also include Orange Sweet Essential Oil and call this blend “Guard-On”. 
  
Clove Essential Oil adds a strong sweetness with hint of bitterness flavor and naturally being antimicrobial has been used to help fix abscesses.  With a long history that includes dulling toothache pain and helping people with sensitive teeth it also has an ability to inhibit decalcification of teeth. 

Cinnamon Essential Oil adds spicy with a sweet flavor.  Its history includes use in easing tooth pain and as an antimicrobial helps with infections and bacteria that result in plaque buildup which is a cause of bad breath.   

Lemon Essential Oil and Orange Essential Oil add refreshing citrus flavor as they both whiten, and strengthen by working as an antiseptic that helps revitalize tissue and fight against gum decay.   

Eucalyptus Essential Oil adds a refreshing zesty flavor as it helps in maintaining oral health, offering fresher breath from antimicrobial properties that assist in retarding plaque buildup, tooth decay and gingivitis.   

Rosemary Essential Oil, a member of the mint family, adds a peppery, woodsy, earthy flavor with hints of citrus and pine-like essence as it fights against bacteria that cause bad breath, gingivitis, plaque, and cavities.
