The American Dental Association (ADA) explains that the ideal toothbrushing routine includes intentional and gentle brushing touching upon all surfaces with a soft bristled toothbrush for two minutes twice a day (plus once-daily flossing).

Rinse mouth before brushing to stimulate your saliva, which helps toothpaste do its work.  

After brushing, spit out then rinse mouth with water.

When your tube of toothpaste becomes empty, there remains toothpaste inside which you can capture by adding a small amount of good water and shaking the tube to free it. 

 If the toothpaste should be thick, unscrew the flip-cap for a larger opening.
